International Conference on the Mechanical Behaviour of Materials in Chile

It is with great honour and pleasure that we propose to invite the 14th International Conference on the Mechanical Behaviour of Materials in the year 2023 to Santiago, Chile. The invitationis extended to all the colleagues and the researchers that have interests in various aspects of the mechanical behaviour of materials

Santiago is a city with over four centuries of history, a major player as far as economy and tourism are concerned, noted for its heritage and the appeal of its various quarters. Today it is a modern city that stands out for the friendliness of its people, the historic heritage found on almost every corner, the beauty of its quarters and the activity built up around them.

Since its location is in a valley, it is surrounded by mountains that offer attractive panoramas like  the ski resorts in winter, hiking, horseback riding, climbing and much more in Cajon del Maipo and discover the typical flavors of food while enjoying a day in the countryside.

Because of its central location, Santiago also allows you to be at the beach in only a few hours, so in one day you can see Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and other locations in the area such as the Port of San Antonio, Rocas de Santo Domingo and Isla Negra among others. In the surroundings of Santiago, the most important wine regions of the country are found which are known as Ruta del Vino (the Wine Route), where you can visit the vineyards and taste different wine strains accompanied by Chilean cuisine.

On the other hand, Chilean universities are considered among the best educational institutions of Latin America, which is why over 26 thousand international students choose Chile as the place to improve their academic abilities every year. Chile offers a wide range of varied and flexible academic programs in order to fulfil every student’s needs. In this sense, Chilean exchange programs stand out, including Spanish and Latin American Culture courses, besides graduate and postgraduate programs in almost every academic field.

The Universidad de Santiago de Chile is composed of 8 faculties, the School of Architecture and the Bachelor Program, offering a complete selection of vastly accredited undergraduate programs, taught by excelling academics. The Engineering Faculty is one of the oldest in the country, with a student population of 10,000 students, and is thus the largest faculty in the country. Also the Engineeringaculty is working in the investigation of the mechanical behaviour of materials.  We would like to propose to host the conference on July of 2023.

The proposed venue is the business district of Santiago,  25 min from our University. It is situated in the metropolitan area of the city and Santiago is one of the most accessible cities in Chile: in terms of air links just 25 minutes from “Arturo Merino Benítez” International Airport.

Santiago de Chile is a lovely city and it has the right dimension for hosting ICM-14: it is a large city that means it has a number of hotels where many events in different fields of activity are hosted, it is well served by public transport systems. Additionally, Santiago de Chile has a lovely climate, with the blend of all 4 seasons throughout the year. We are sure that the invited delegates, the accompanying guests and all the participants will like and enjoy each and every bits of times which they will spend with us.

We seek to solve the big enigmas of nature thanks to computational mechanics!

WCCM is expected to be one of the largest congresses on Computational
Mechanics, with an expected participation from all parts of engineering and
science, including academia, government and industry. Computational
Mechanics has become a major scientific discipline, underpinning the current
advanced engineering and scientific problems. The congress provides a
further opportunity to find «Pursuing the Infinite Potential of Computational
Mechanics,» by adding new topics such as artificial intelligence, machine
learning, safety and environmental problems, disaster prevention and
mitigation, energy and resource engineering, verification & validation, industrial
applications and so on.

Why will it be held at Santiago oc Chile?

Facing the Tokyo Bay, Yokohama is a tranquil harbor city forming a part of the
Greater Tokyo Area, just half an hour away from the capital Tokyo. Since Japan
opened its doors to the world, Yokohama has been the nation’s key entry point
for international trade and communications, bringing global perspectives, new
ideas and multi-culturalism. The port city has always been recognized for
being open to business and to an exchange of expertise through international
trade and convention.
